Dr. Steffan studied chemistry at the University of Aachen in Germany and the University of Bristol in England. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Aachen in 1992 working on organoboron, -zirconium, and -potassium chemistry, followed by postdoctoral years at the Osaka University in Japan (organic semiconductors), at the University of Aachen (macrobicyclic ligands, a project with Schering, Berlin), and at DSM Research in Geleen, the Netherlands (metallocenes for olefin polymerization). In 1997 he founded CONVERTEX Chemie GmbH in Wolfen.
